Problem: When conducting a search on the web in my ProCite®
database, why can't I seem to find any of the authors that I know
should be there?
Solution: The standard way that ProCite keeps
the names of 2 or more authors in authors field is to separate
them with //. Keywords are stored in a similar manner using
a single /. Alternatively, authors can be delimited with
semicolons but this is less recommended when using RWP. Usually
RWP's converter will not recognize authors or keywords that are
not delimited in the standard convention and the search will generally
fail. Also loading a ProCite database that has incorrect delimiters
may cause RWP to hang. Using ProCite's Global Edit feature, found
under the Database menu, replace semicolons or other characters
with // for authors and / for keywords. Remember that records
must be marked in order to be edited with the Global Edit feature.
ProCite also uses an = equals sign to signal a corporate
author internally which RWP does not recognize.
