Reference Web Poster Tech Support FAQ

Problem: When I post my database to the web my PubMed ID (PMID) numbers don't work.

Solution: When clicking on a hyper-link that does not have a URL header attached to it (e.g. www.domain.com) most web servers by default will consider it a relative link to the current location. By default Reference Manager®, ProCite® and EndNote® know how to handle PMID's. The web servers, however, needs more information to forward the web browser on to the reference at PubMed.

The below information should precede the PubMed number:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/htbin-post/Entrez/query?db=m&form=6&uid=
The most simple way to get this information into the database would be to use the Find And Replace tools. Find PMID and Replace it with the above URL. This will make the link "live" on both the desktop and web servers.

Important Note: Recent changes to PubMed may prohibit this method from working in the future.
