Problem: Why won't my Reference Manager 10 databases show
up in the database drop-down field on the RWP web page?
Solution: RWP is compatible with Reference
Manager 9.5 or below. Reference Manager 10 introduced an updated
database file structure that was necessary to add the 4 new "link-to"
fields. Reference Web Poster does not recognize these and will
hang as a result. If you need to post a Reference Manager 10 database
there are two work-arounds that can be used to get a database
posted on the web:
1. Download a copy of RM 9.5's demo version if you
do not have a copy of RM 9.5. This available from the RWP
support page under patches. Export all of the Reference Manager
10 records in RIS format to a text file. Create a new database
in Reference Manager 9.5 Use RM 9.5's Import Text File (from the
References menu) to Import and select the RIS Import filter. Note:
if the Reference ID's from the RM 10 database do not match those
imported into the RM 9.5 then please contact
technical support for an updated RIS filter.
2. In some cases, if the 4 new "link-to"
fields are not being used, it is possible to use RM 9.5's Rebuild
Database feature (from the Tools menu) to construct a compatible
database. To do so, make a copy of the RM 10 database file (the
.RMD only). In Reference Manager 9.5 select the copy of the RM
10 database file in the Rebuild database dialog. Note: this will
not work if a copy of the RM 10 index (.RMX) was also made.
